Mark's Ark

So a little over a week ago we started working on the playground that Mama Sue got for us late last summer. We were just too busy last year to set aside the time to get it done, start to finish. While working on it every spare moment for the better part of a week, Mark wondered what it was like for Noah to do the same thing only for 100 years. Ironically, both were made of cypress wood. We finished the assembly part just before the rain started to fall last Saturday. Although it wasn't enough for a flood, it was a little more dramatic because we hadn't had any moisture for so long. We still need to put water sealant on it (tar and pitch or Thompson's??) and get sand put the in the sand box part, but for all practical purposes it is fully functional!

There were sooo many boards! It was quite a process to find the one you actually needed. You pretty much had to measure to find the right dimensions as they were not marked. The hardware was the same way. Many bolts and screws of slightly different sizes.
First couple steps of 99 completed. No, this isn't where we put it, just trying to do some of the assembly out of the wicked wind that was blowing all week long.
Starting to look like something! We did have lots of help from Uncle Luke. Curtis and Scott also came by to chip in!
The final product. Notice the crows nest on the left is in the middle of the tree. It will be much more fun when all the leaves finally come out, like a tree house!
